Delegation & Parallel Approvals in Checkpoint Workflows

Problem

Customers with structured approval processes rely heavily on checkpoints involving multiple departments before signing. A recurring issue arises when individual approvers are unavailable (e.g. vacation, absence) and need to be substituted. Currently, there is no true delegation/backup approver functionality in fynk. While Teams can be used as a workaround, this introduces a key limitation:

• Checkpoints assigned to Teams can only be triggered sequentially, not in parallel.

• This means one team is only notified after the previous one completes approval.

• In practice, this creates delays and bottlenecks, especially in time-sensitive approval processes.

1. Delegation / Substitute Approver Functionality

   • Allow users to assign a substitute who can approve on their behalf during absence

2. Parallel Checkpoint Execution for Teams

   • Enable multiple teams (or checkpoints) to be triggered simultaneously instead of sequentially

   Ideally, combine both to fully support real-world approval workflows
