Webhooks

Get notified in other systems when something happens to a document in fynk, for example in Microsoft Teams or your BI tool.

Webhooks send a message to another system as soon as something happens in fynk, for example when a document is signed. Use them to post updates in Microsoft Teams, trigger automations or feed your BI tool.

Available on Business and Pro · Set up: Owner · Use: everyone

Set up a webhook

  1. Go to Account settings → Webhooks.
  2. Click Create webhook.
  3. Enter the URL that should receive the events.
  4. Save.
  5. Choose which notifications are sent to the webhook: go to Account settings → Notifications, click ⋯ on a notification and select the webhook under Webhooks in Edit notification. Repeat this for each notification you want to send.

The list in Account settings → Webhooks shows each webhook's name with a status dot, its URL, Delivery format and Signature location. Click a webhook to see its details: URL, Delivery format (for example Default), Signature location (for example Header), creation date and Signing secret with a copy button. You can edit or delete the webhook there.

Events

Every event covered by fynk's standard notifications can also be sent to a webhook, for example when a document moves to another stage or is signed. Once an Owner has set up a webhook, everyone in the account can use it as a target.

Examples

  • Microsoft Teams: post a message to a channel when a contract is signed, using an incoming webhook or a Teams workflow.
  • Zapier, Make or n8n: start an automation when a document changes, for example to save the signed PDF to SharePoint.
  • BI and reporting: send contract data to your data warehouse.

Good to know

  • Requests contain JSON event information. They include signature headers as defined in the Standard Webhooks spec, signed with the webhook's Signing secret, so the receiving system can verify that a request comes from fynk.
  • Combine webhooks with the API to fetch more details about a document after an event. See REST API: get started.
  • A "document viewed" event isn't available.
