Headers and footers give your documents a consistent look: your logo, the company name, page numbers or a checksum on every page.
Available on all plans · Create: Owner and Admin · Use: everyone who can edit the document
Create a header and footer
Go to Account settings → Headers / footers and click +.
Enter a Name.
Add text, images and variables in Header content and Footer content. Each has a small editor with formatting options and Ask AI.
Under Visibility settings, turn on Visible in browser view if the header / footer should also show when the document is viewed in the browser, not only in the PDF.
Click Save.
Variables you can add
These variables are filled in when the PDF is created:
Page number
Checksum
Version date
Signature type (prints SES, AES or QES)
To insert a variable, open the variable menu with Cmd+P (macOS) or Ctrl+P (Windows and Linux). Variables only appear in the PDF, never in the online view. The checksum and version date are only filled in once the document is fully signed, so they appear in the final PDF.
Use it in a template or document
Open the template or document and select the header/footer you want with the header/footer icon in the editor's top menu bar. Since June 2026 you can also choose a header/footer on individual documents, not only in templates.
Good to know
A document uses one header/footer combination.
If you change a header/footer, the change only applies to new documents. Existing documents keep their version.
Headers and footers work in templates and in documents created in fynk, but not in uploaded PDF documents.
To align content left and right in the same line, insert a table without borders.
Different headers on the first or last page aren't supported.
You edit a header or footer like a document. Use the command menu for alignment, colours, highlights, fonts, lists and line spacing.
The header and footer repeat on every PDF page. With Visible in browser view, they appear once at the top and bottom of the online document.
A variable can't contain a table, but you can place variables inside a table.
"Page x of y" isn't possible. Only the current page number is available.
Images in a header or footer can be resized.
Background images aren't supported.
Dynamic fields can add content and shift the layout. Check the result in the template preview, and download the PDF before you invite external users.
