Tags are coloured labels you put on documents. They make the document list easier to scan and let you filter lists and dashboards by any combination of labels.
Available on all plans · Owners and Admins create tags; all users who can edit a document can add them [CHECK]
Create tags
Go to Account Settings → Tags.
Click the + button.
Enter a Name and choose a Color. A default colour is preselected.
Click Create.
Use colour as a second layer of meaning: for example, all subsidiaries in blue, with the subsidiary's name as the text.
Add tags to a document
One document: open it and add tags in the document sidebar.
Many documents: in the document list, select the documents, choose Manage tags, and add, remove or replace tags.
A whole import: choose tags when you start the import. See Upload and import existing contracts.
From a template: tags set on a template are copied to every document created from it. [CHECK]
Filter by tags
In the document list and on dashboards, filter by one or more tags. Choose whether documents must have all of the selected tags, any of them, or exactly these tags. You can also exclude tags to hide documents.
What to use tags for
See Dynamic fields, metadata or tags: which to use.
Good to know
Keep the list short. Too many tags make choosing the right one slow and inconsistent.
Tags aren't included in the full-text search. Use the tag filter instead.
You can't sort the document list by tags, because a document can have several.
The AI doesn't set tags. [CHECK]
A tag name can have up to 40 characters.
Removing a tag in Account Settings removes it from all documents. This can't be undone.
